Louis J. Avvento, M.D. |
Dr. Louis J. Avvento graduated from the University of Rome with a degree in medicine in 1981. After completing his fellowship in Hematology and Oncology at Stony Brook University, Dr. Avvento began a private practice in Riverhead in 1988 with a staff of two. The practice now employs a staff of over forty-five qualified professionals from the local community. He serves as Medical Director for East End Hospice in Westhampton and is the director of palliative care at Peconic Bay Medical Center. He is board certified in Internal Medicine, Hematology, Medical Oncology and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Avvento believes in a team approach in addressing the complex care issues of cancer patients and works closely with Nurse Practitioners and Oncology Certified Nurses. This integrated style allows the patient and families to access a number of qualified, compassionate personnel to assist with the challenges of a difficult diagnosis. |

Alexander Zuhoski, M.D. |
Dr. Alexander Zuhoski grew up on the North Fork of Eastern Long Island and makes his home there with his wife and four boys. After completing Fellowship in Medical Oncology and Hematology at Stony Brook University Hospital, Dr. Zuhoski joined ELIHO to serve his community of origin. Dr. Zuhoski, a graduate of Stony Brook University Medical School, completed his internship and residency programs at Saint Vincent's Medical Center in Manhattan and is Board Certified in Medical Oncology and Hematology. |

Deepali Sharma, M.D. |
Dr. Deepali Sharma joined the staff at New York Methodist Hospital in Brooklyn as a resident in 2003, and was chosen as Chief Resident in 2006. After completing her Fellowship in Hematology/Oncology she joined the dedicated team of doctors and nurses at Eastern Long Island Hematology Oncology. She holds privileges at Southampton Hospital, Peconic Bay Medical Center and Eastern Long Island Hospital. |
